About Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is far from what you’d expect from a Latin American city. Opulent baroque architecture makes you think of Paris, yellow roofed taxis and Porteños (as the locals are called) rush around like New Yorkers and there are more theatres and cinemas than London’s West End.But feel the dramatic history at Casa Rosada in Plaza de Mayo, hear a few bars of a melancholic tango and taste a smooth, delicious Argentine lomo steak, grilled at one of the many parrilla restaurants, and you know immediately that you’re in Buenos Aires.
The stunning Belle Époque architecture in Avenida de Mayo and Recoleta reminds you of Buenos Aires’ wealthy heyday, while the development around Puerto Madero brings you very much into the 21st Century.

Shopping: Sumptuous leather goods, gorgeous home wares, and seriously hip fashion are all incredibly inexpensive. Try the boutiques in Palermo, Patio Bullrich for designers, and Calle Florida for pretty much everything. The Sunday Flea market of San Telmo is one you must experience.
Food: The steaks in Argentina really are something else and accompanied by a glass of Malbec you could ask for little more. Explore where the locals hangout for great value grills.
Sport: The country’s real religion is football. Go see Boca Juniors playing at home and feel the passion of the city.
Culture: Visit Recoleta cemetery and the tomb of Evita (Eva Perón). The whole gothic and rococo miniature city is a fascinating mausoleum. Head to La Boca to see another side of Buenos Aires culture but mind the tango, the tourists and the Maradona lookalikes.
