About Philadelphia
Since losing the title of capital of the Unites States, Philadelphia has fortunately still retained its historic charm and pride. ‘Philly’ is a historic and beautiful city having recently undergone a revitalization project to bring the streets back to something definitely worthy of the tourist influx.After having visited the most famous Philly historic sites at the Independence National Park, including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, the historic streets and attractions of the Old City and Waterfront are easily taken in on foot. Benjamin Franklin is the city’s proudest citizen and memorials to his life are another great Philly option. Franklin Court and the Underground Museum display the many wonders attributed to this outstanding man. Take a break from the history lessons and venture out to the glorious green spaces at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square.
Not far out of town are the traditional Amish villages found in what is termed the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. These offer a unique chance to witness a very different way of life and authentic souvenirs and crafts, made in the traditional style Amish style, are also available.

Restaurants: Tangerine may at first seem more like a nightclub but this hip place serves up some amazing Mediterranean dishes. Tangerine is on Market Street in the Old City district. For a cheaper meal out the Friday Saturday Sunday restaurant in the city centre is a simple, intimate and inventive affair.
Nightlife: Try the hip and ultra stylish 32 degrees in the Old City. This venue features great cocktails and a modern décor. The city centre is where you’ll find the mega Shampoo club. As the name suggests it is a promotional and themed club featuring multiple dance areas and popular event evenings.
Shopping: Franklin Mills Mall in North East Philly provides all the typical mall fare, just on a larger scale. For something more central the Gallery at Market East may provide the ideal gift or bargain. Alternatively, The Italian Markets are the largest open-air markets in America and are the best way to take in the influence and charm of the Italian community in Philly.
Architecture: Perched on top of the grand old City Hall building, is the city’s founder William Penn. Another feature of this historic building is the observation deck just below William Penn featuring an outstanding view of the city of Philadelphia.
