About Strasbourg
Strasbourg is an architectural gem, holding hundreds of heritage buildings, churches, towers and ancient city walls; the city is immediately impressive and beautiful. This city also has a vibrant and cosmopolitan vibe that brings in millions of tourists every year. Strasbourg has long been a crossroads between neighbouring cities and nations and the German and French influence has left a lasting and distinctive character to this great city.The city of Strasbourg is a city of contrasts for visitors; from the Petite France quarter to the ultra modern City of Europe and is also the site of many European Institutions. The most distinguished of Strasbourg’s many grand buildings, is the Cathedral Notre Dame found on the Grand Ile. Nearby in the Baroque 18th century Rohan Palace, you’ll find the Archeological Museum, the Museum of Decorative Arts and the Fine Arts Museum.
Visit Strasbourg in winter as many visitors do, and enjoy the delightful old city centre when the Christmas markets truly brings this area to life. Summer also sees many festivals, including the International Music Festival (June), the Contemporary Music Festival (September), the Jazz d’Or (November) and the Voix Romane Festival that celebrates the city’s dual German and French history.

Culture: the Modern Museum of Contemporary Art is a must see. The building itself is a modern wonder, with its sheer glass frontage and quayside orientation. The museum holds an impressive art collection.
Shopping: Strasbourg has three main shopping malls including the new Rivetiole, the large place des Halle and more designer wares at the Galeries Lafayette. Strasbourg also hosts a street market (marche aux Puces) on Wednesdays and Saturdays at rue de Vieil-Hopital.
Architecture: a must see is the watchtowers found as part of the city’s 14th century defenses, and the Ponts Couverts and Barrage Vauban are fantastic reminders of the city’s military defences.
Restaurants: for a more refined dining experience, Strasbourg’s superb Au Crocodile restaurant more than delivers with elegant meals and attentive service.
